The Subconscious

During our everyday life we learn to perform different task such as opening doors, riding a bike, driving etc. The first time we try to perform a task we have to consciously think about it, learn the operation and the process. With practice we learn to generalise how to carry out the tasks without actively thinking about it. It is at this stage when our subconscious takes control saving us having to consciously think how to open a door or how to start the engine. Our conscious mind can only perform one task at a time it is the subconscious mind which controls most of the thinking processes. Sometimes our subconscious mind generalises and performs task that are not beneficial to us like nail biting, overeating, getting stressed and much more.

The subconscious part of the mind also controls our vital instincts for survival as the subconscious reacts and operates faster that the conscious mind. Our subconscious learns about the dangers in life and protects us. For example when someone shouts "Stop" while we are about to cross the road  we immediately stop without thinking. Unfortunately our subconscious sometimes perceives certain things as dangerous to our life that are not existent resulting in anxiety and fear. Hence many people sometimes can not even understand why they have certain phobias which other people do not have.

The subconscious has no logic and hence can not be dealt logically. It is here where hypnotherapy is at its best as it works by talking directly to the subconscious making changes at the origin of the problem.
